The title is taken from the cow, which Prophet Musa (AS) wanted the Children of Israel to sacrifice as directed by Allah. The sura addresses a wide variety of topics telling the stories of Prophet Adam, Musa and Ibrahim (AS). The major theme is guidance. The sura comprises more than one tenth of the Qur'an.
